When we got home from our Christmas break a couple of days ago I was overcome with an unfamiliar (and frankly unnerving) desire to clean things up. They call it 'the Spring cleaning', I understand?
Anyway, I thought it would be completely boring but no! This fit of 'the Spring cleaning' resulted in an invigorating twenty minutes in the kitchen. (I'm no fool, I know the kitchen is the best place for easy wins, and I also knew this fit of cleaning would pass as quickly as a rational thought through Tony Abbott's head so I was going for quick wins).
(Shit I just typed 'wine' instead of 'wins', if that gives you an idea of my attachment to cleaning?)
So I filled three garbage bags of expired foodstuffs in my twenty minutes, and it was good.
I won't bore you with a tedious list of the crap I threw out, but I did want to just share this one gem with you.
You know turmeric? Referred to in my house as The Mighty Turmeric?
Thusly:
Oftentimes people (good people) are kind to The Mighty Turmerics and allow them to live full and useful lives.
At other times, other people (less good people) shove their bottles of turmeric towards the back of the pantry and leave them to expire, pft! in a silent cloud of blandness.
Thusly:
On the plus side, a 2007 'best before' date for the turmeric is still several decades later than Tony Abbott's.
